4th of july is my favorite holiday for many reasons. a few being...it's summer, good food abounds, red, white & blue are a successful color palette, people are laid back because this holiday does not require the purchase of gifts and duh, the fireworks are kickin'.

don't wake me. i'm sunbathing.

this past weekend my aunt sonia and i traveled down to tulsa, ok to spend a weekend with my other aunt janine & uncle phil. it was relaxing from the moment i stepped into her house. what a treat! the weather was hotter than hot, which was perfect for laying out at the pool, which is what we did the entire time.

after a full day in the sun on saturday, we cleaned up and hit the town. we had wine and snacks at vintage 1740 which is a cute, little wine & tapas place. then we had dinner at dalesandro's. i had swordfish for the first time in my life, after the many recommendations from my fellow diners. i would have never thought about ordering seafood from a landlocked restaurant, but i'm so happy i threw caution to the wind and just went for it. dinner was delicious and the restaurant had a violin player who would wander around, serrenading the patrons. it was a lovely evening after a relaxing, sun-filled day.

i'm so thankful to have aunts who are so loving and make me laugh so hard. they are hysterical when they get together, and i wouldn't have it any other way.

i'm off to tulsa, oklahoma for the weekend to spend some time laying by the pool with my two crazy, hilarious, lovely aunts. should be fun!!
